What do fiction writers of america offer to new writers?

I’ve been exploring fiction writing communities and came across fiction writers of america while researching support groups for authors. Some writers say joining such organizations helps improve skills and networking, while others think independent learning works just fine. I’m trying to understand what really benefits beginners in fiction writing. Has anyone here been part of similar writing groups or associations? What value did you get from it, and would you recommend it to new writers?
