What Holds Writers Back from Publishing?

Why is it that so many writers complete their manuscripts but pause when they’re finally ready to get your book published ? Is it uncertainty about the publishing process, fear of rejection, or simply not knowing which path traditional or self-publishing fits best? I’m curious how other authors navigated this stage.
