Is the inkjet printer suitable for home use?

I'm thinking about purchasing an inkjet printer for my home office and would like some recommendations. I don't have to print 100 pages each week, but I print out documents, schoolwork, and colour pictures occasionally. According to what I've read, inkjet models are flexible and will most likely create quality color prints.
